The 2010 LMS & Learning Systems Perspective Scan:

Each participant attending The LMS & Learning Systems Forum will receive an in-depth report:

The 2010 LMS & Learning Systems Perspective Scan

Edited by: Elliott Masie, Chair, The Learning CONSORTIUM

This report will frame the discussions at our Forum and will provide a framework for looking at your current (or future) LMS, LCMS, Collaboration and other Learning Systems.

The data in the Perspective Scan will be based on an industry scan conducted by The MASIE Center in Spring 2010 and will include current use and challenges for a range of  Learning Systems, including:

  • Learning Management Systems: How is the LMS evolving (or not evolving) in function, role and integration in large organizations?

  • Learning Content Management Systems: Why have some organizations shifted from LCMS to wider Content Systems? How are LCMS being used for learning development workflow?

  • SharePoint & Collaboration Platforms: Are organizations leveraging Enterprise Collaboration Platforms like SharePoint and Google Apps for learning functions?

  • Changing Virtual Meeting Systems: How are organizations shifting their use of Virtual Meeting Systems – from webinar hosting, to Virtual Leadership tools to remote content capture?

  • Video and UserContent: How and where are organizations storing and “serving” Video and UserContent segments? What tracking levels are being deployed?

  • Mobile and Apps: What are the emerging trends in Mobile and Learning Apps and how are they handled within traditional LMS and LCMS?

  • Disrupters: What are the technology and process disrupters confronting organizations with “legacy” Learning Systems?

  • Governance and Costs per Learner Comparisons.

The 2010 LMS & Learning Systems Report will be distributed in two parts.  The first will be an overview for use by the participants in the Forum. Elliott Masie will provide a detailed and interactive “drill-down” on the results and trends.

The second part of the 2010 LMS & Learning Systems Report will be distributed 5 weeks after the event - with additional data gathered from the participating organizations.  The focus of this part of the scan will be determined at the Forum - choosing benchmarking and comparison data that will assist them in their planning efforts.
